Warning: Legit spoilers, maybe. this is a new movie.

The Lovebirds is a rom-com that was released onto Netflix in April of 2020 and has received a 66% on Rotten Tomatoes as well as a 6/10 on IMDB.

The film is about a couple that cannot decide on anything together even after four years of dating. Jibran (Kumai Nanijani) makes documentaries which he never wants to show his girlfriend and Leilani (Issa Rae) is obsessed with Instagram which seems to aggravate them both a bit, while driving to a dinner party at a friends house they accidentally hit a cyclist when Jibran, distracted by their mutual decision to break up, runs a red light.

They try their best to help the cyclist but he gets up and leaves before they can help him, then a mustached cop (Paul Sparks) commandeers their vehicle to pursue the cyclist who he claims is a criminal.

After catching up to the cyclist the man repeatedly runs over him until Jibran is forced to admit that perhaps the man is not a police man.

Distraught and accused of murdering the man they flee the scene of the crime and Leilani convinces Jibran not to go to the cops on the basis that their story isn't believable and that racial profiling will work against them.

After this they set out to try and solve the crime themselves so that they can go back to their normal lives and forget about their traumatic experience.

They set out to find the cyclist's house and search for clues as well as speak to a mysterious contact named Edie (Anna Camp) who might be familiar to audiences as Aubrey Posen from the Pitch Perfect series.

This film was hilarious in so many ways and I really enjoyed the way that they made the main characters overcome their problems to solve the crime. The acting was very good and I especially liked the subtle way that they threw out the racial profiling dig which is a real problem in America at this time.

I hope you'll give the movie a shot, you will definitely not regret the laughs.

Thanks for reading xx
