No spoilers: This one is old.
Pride and Prejudice is based off of the romantic novel by Jane Austen of the same name, which got a 4.3/5 on Goodreads.
The film itself was released in July of 2005 and received a 7.8/10 on IMDB and a 86% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Unfortunately I have yet to read the novel but I'm working on getting it.

The film follows the Bennet family as their father (Donald Sutherland) tries to curb their meddling mother (Brenda Blethlyn) as she tries to marry off her five daughters to wealthy suitors in order to make sure that her children never 'suffer' as she believes she has.
Her first conquest is trying to settle Jane(Rosamund Pike), her most beautiful daughter-according to her, with the illustrious Mr. Bingley(Simon Woods). This starts off well as they seem to like each other but it is not meant to be and Jane is left heart broken while Elizabeth(Keira Knightley) is furious with Mr. Darcy(Matthew Macfadyen), Mr. Bingley's closest friend, who seems to have influenced the decision against the marriage to her dear, shy sister.
"I love you, most ardently..." -Mr. Darcy
During all of this we witness the indifference that Mr. Darcy allows Elizabeth as she quite often speaks her mind and eventually he proposes to her but not before insulting her and basically everything that she lives for.
Needless to say, she doesn't take this well and rejects him on the spot.

While Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth are blundering on, Mr. Wickham, an old friend of Mr. Darcy, is busy trying to seduce Elizabeth's younger sister Lydia, who happens to be the wild card of the family.
Drama ensues and reputations are lost, if ever so subtly.
This story is not your classic love story, in fact it's more reluctant love than I have ever seen in my life.
I really enjoyed the movie, Macfadyen and Knightley portrayed their parts perfectly and really brought the book to life.
The film has beautiful scenes as well as incredible costume design and manors, if that isn't enough to make you watch it then you are the last person that I could be prevailed upon to speak to.
Thanks for reading xx
