Spoilers: If you've been living under a rock since 2014.

Vampire Academy is based off of the books of the same name by Richelle Mead and was released in February of 2014.

It received a 5.5/10 on IMDB and a pithy 16% on Rotten Tomatoes.

I recently watched this movie again for probably the fourth time and I enjoyed it almost as much as I did the first time, if not more.

The film is narrated by Rose Hathaway (Zoey Deutch), a dhampir who is sworn to protect the Princess and last living heir of the Dragomir, Lissa (Lucy Fry) who just happens to be a moroi.

The story begins when Rose and Lissa are discovered and they try to run away from the dhampirs who have been tracking them, unfortunately for them Dimitri Belikov (Danila Kozlovsky) was leading them this time and they could not escape their capture and imminent return to the dreaded Vampire Academy.

Chaos ensues as soon as the pair are back at the academy as neither were supposed to have left in the first place which puts them on bad terms with the staff, not to mention the intense bullying that they face from their peers which probably stems from jealousy but how knows.

When Lissa begins to involve herself with a notorious fire magic user named Christian Ozera (Dominic Sherwood), Rose feels it her duty to step in which ends in disaster for everyone involved. Natalie Dashkov (Sarah Hyland), a prominent moroi's daughter who has long been friends with Lissa's family, does her best to help with the bullying but is a bit blind sided as she is very shy and often bullied herself.

In the end, it is up to Rose and Dimitri to save their respective moroi's from the evil strigoi that repeatedly attempt to kill them.

I am always surprised by the mix of intensely good acting and incredibly bad acting in the same film, it doesn't quite ruin it for me but I am a bit biased to movies that are based off of books. I do especially like this movie because of the basics that they stick to from the books for the characters personalities and a few of the appearances as well as Rose's intense sarcasm, I must admit I love a sarcastic heroine.

Thanks for reading xx
