Reign is a series that follows the life of Mary Queen of Scots. It first aired in October 2013 and it ran for four seasons before ending in June 2017, it received a 7.5/10 on IMDB and an 86% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Reign is one of the few series that I have watched from beginning to end and absolutely loved. It is based on the story of Mary Queen of Scots (Who I really admire) as she grows into one of the most famous queens in history as well as the ancestor of the first king to unite Scotland and England as one nation.

The series begins when Mary (Adelaide Kane) is fifteen and she is sent to France to marry prince Francis (Toby Regbo) who is heir to the French throne. Things are a little bumpy, as all arranged marriages are and Mary takes a while to warm up to Francis as well as his meddling mother, Catherine de' Medici (Megan Follows) and his seemingly insane father, King Henry II (Alan van Sprang)-You might recognize him if you've ever watched Shadowhunters, however with the help of her hand maidens and Francis' brother, Sebastian (Torrance Coombs) she eventually sees that she can be happy in France, even if it isn't her home.

Just when things start to get good for Mary, her cousin Queen Elizabeth (Rachel Skartsen) enters the scene and devises a plan to attack Scotland in fear of Mary as she believes that Mary wants her crown, which could not be further from the truth but causes a lot of friction and almost a war purely based on hear say and traitors who whisper in the respective queens ears.

There is a ton of drama in this series but coupled with the amazing acting it was simply magical to watch. I laughed and cried and laughed again, the finale was beautiful and heart-breaking all at the same time and one hundred percent what I expect to get from every series finale from now on.

The historical accuracy is on point as well as the gorgeous dresses and romanticism that they have put into it, I often found myself wanting to be a queen instead of a Disney princess, despite all the hard work it seems to be.

One of my favorite things about this series is possibly the fact that none of the drama feels forced which I find happens quite a lot in this genre, I must however say again how amazing the acting is because I could definitely feel their pain, frustration and even happiness, if I had a hat on then I would take it off for these amazing people, they brought something to life for me that I will always remember and cherish.

Thanks for reading xx
