I got this idea while talking to one of my friends who I recently convinced to watch That 70's Show and I thought I might as well share the experience. These are my favorite some of my favorite live action series.
Warning: There could be spoilers, but since these are mostly older series, I'm sure you all have heard of them before.
As I have expressed before, I have trouble choosing my all time favorite anything, so these are not ranked according to my personal preference.
Friends:
Up first we have Friends.
Friends is a series that first aired in 1994 on the NBC network and has a total of 10 seasons.
It has a 78% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 8.9/10 on IMDB and a 10 in my heart.
I adore this series, in fact I have watched the entire thing twice in the past four years.
The series revolves around a group of friends who are all struggling to be adults in the Big Apple.

The pilot episode sees Rachel, played by Jennifer Aniston, run away from her wedding and seek shelter with her high school friend, Monica, played by Courtney Cox. Monica has an apartment above Central Perk, a popular coffee shop, and we are introduced the whole gang, Ross, played by David Schwimmer, Chandler, Matthew Perry, Joey, played by Matt LeBlanc, and Phoebe, played by Lisa Kudrow.
The story starts with a bang and continues on this road until the end. Definitely worth a watch if you've ever felt like you'll never get to the end of the struggle or if you ever need a good laugh. This series can always make you feel better.
That 70's Show:
This one is a real laugh a minute.
I only recently finished this series but I can say without a doubt that I loved every moment of it.
This series aired in 1998 and has 8 seasons of great gags and inside jokes. It got a 8.1/10 on IMDB and was aired on Fox as a sitcom.
That 70's Show centers around Eric Foreman and his friends and family as they navigate the great ups and downs of being a teenager in U.S.A during the 70's. It has an abundance of inside jokes about relationships, parenting, marijuana and more. It can always bring a smile to your face as well as your friends if you happen to reference it in passing as I often do.
In fact, their subtlety at referencing marijuana was so good that one of my friends only realized that they were supposed to be smoking marijuana in the basement on the 6th episode.

The cast included Topher Grace as Eric, Mila Kunis as Jackie, Ashton Kutcher as Kelso, Danny Masterson as Hyde, Wilmer Valderrama as Fez and Laura Prepon as Donna.
Most of the cast members have gone on to have illustrious careers and Ashton and Danny even starred together again in the Netflix series The Ranch, but I've always thought that this was their start and what a great start it was.
How I Met Your Mother:
How I Met Your Mother is a widely known romantic comedy series that ran for 9 seasons and was first aired in September of 2005. The show was created by Craig Thomas and Carter Bays for CBS and was loosely based on their friendship. It has a 83% on Rotten Tomatoes as well as an 8.3/10 on IMDB.
The cast members included well known faces such as Jason Segel, Alyson Hannigan, Niel Patrick Harris, Cobie Smulders and Josh Radnor as the main cast of friends who spend most of their time inside of a bar by the name of MacLaren's Pub.

The group is led by the hopeless romantic Ted Mosby, played by Radnor, as he searches for his one true love. The story sometimes veers off as they provide back story for the other characters. Lily and Marshall, played by Hannigan and Segel respectively, is the one greatest love story of the series and they are continuously highlighted as the perfect couple which leads to great ridicule from Barney, played by Harris, who is a play boy who loves the ladies and the alcohol, unfortunately.
Ted tells this story to his kids from his point of view which leads to them complaining about when he will eventually get to the point, he did take 9 years to tell them the ending. The series is a feel good show that can bring tears to your eyes occasionally but will bring them there for completely different reasons later on when you witness Barney's pick-up lines.
The show is also reported to have been nominated for 30 Emmy's and winning 10.
Definitely worth a binge session.
New Girl:
This show is definitely one of the best cute girl series out there.
New Girl was originally created by Elizabeth Meriwether for Fox Broadcasting Company and has a beautiful score of 94% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 7.7/10 on IMDB. The show has a grand total of 7 seasons and was first aired in 2011.

This series follows Jess, Zooey Deschanel, in her escapades after she moves into an L.A loft with three other men. The men are skeptical at first but she grows on them with her quirky and fun attitude. Jess has to deal with Schmidt who is played by Max Greenfield, Nick who's played by Jake Johnson and Winston, played by Lamorne Morris. Each man has an odd eccentricity that endears them to us, such as Nick who acts like a grumpy old man most of the time, but Jess somehow wiggles her way into their hearts. The show also included Jess' best friend Cece who is played by Hannah Simone.
I like this series because it shows us just how difficult life can be for young adults in the modern world. It shows us the problems of following your dreams, having love lives and even family issues, it's very real in a way but it has the right amount of comedy to not make it awkward or sad. The fact that the writers of this series kept Jess as a cute but strong woman instead of the usual sex icon is also, what I would call an excellent move, because it gives us something new in this world of leading ladies.
The Good Place:
This series really made me wonder what happens after we die.
The show centers around Eleanor Shellstrop, Kristen Bell, who has just recently died and been sent to heaven. She is horrified to discover that she doesn't belong there and that she is causing paradise to fall apart because of the imbalance that she poses.

When she is introduced to her soul mate Chidi, played by William Jackson Harper, she begs him to help her become a better person so that she can deserve her afterlife. There are many obstacles for the two, mostly the fact that Eleanor was a horrible person in life and she really, really shouldn't be in the good place.
The other residents of the good place aren't exactly helping either, especially Tahani, Jameela Jamil, who is a perfectionist and wants to be friends with Eleanor while she also proves that she is the best resident there due to all her charity work. Tahani also becomes suspicious of her soul mate, played by Manny Jacinto, since he doesn't speak to her because he took an oath of silence as a Tibetan monk on earth and decides to continue it in the afterlife. Along with all of this internal drama, Eleanor has to deal with Michael, who designed the neighborhood and goes into a fit of nervousness when nothing seems to be going right.
Luckily she has Janet, a sort of animated robot who can pop in and out of existence whenever you call her and help you for as long as you need.
Altogether, a fun loving new take on the afterlife and what it entails for us mere mortals.
Let me know what your lists are in the comments.
Thanks for reading xx
