I am by no means a "gamer" nor am I particularly motivated to become one but my husband is one and therefore I get pulled in sometimes.

Here are my top five choices for people who like to bond with gamers but are a bit $hit at playing the games themselves.

1: Stardew Valley

This game is an indie game that was developed by ConcernedApe and designed by Eric Barone. It has a 10/10 on Steam which is outstanding and really speaks to how much the people love it. It is a third person farming game (No, not like farming simulator) where your character moves to Stardew Valley to get away from it all and becomes a farmer.

If you aren't really into growing crops, you can also explore the mines, go fishing in various prime spots or even just farm with animals instead. You can get a dog or cat which you can name and once day you get to pet your animal who then gives you a heart. It is adorable and I cannot get over it. You can also date and eventually marry any of the single characters in the town and later have children (same sex marriages adopt). I have over two hundred hours in this game and I still haven't found everything but I cannot wait to try. Definitely my favorite game as of yet.

2: Don't Starve

This game has been reviewed before and you can get the full review under the Games tab but in the mean time:

Don't Starve is an adventure survival game that was developed by the Canadian indie game developer, Klei Entertainment, and was released in 2013. It has a 10/10 on Steam, the popular game distribution service.

I started playing games with Don't Starve and it will forever have a soft spot in my heart. I really like the animation style which is sort of arty and old style animation that reminds me of Tim Burton classics. I have a lot of hours playing this game as well and I can tell you, it is not easy. I have frequently thought that I could totally take on that monster and then I died, a horrible death. I would not recommend it for first time players unless you like to figure things out for yourself and enjoy struggling.

3: Oxygen Not Included

This game is a survival simulation game that was developed and published by the same people as Don't Starve; Klei Entertainment. It too has a 10/10 on Steam and I'm starting to wonder if there is a theme here.

I have only recently started playing this game but I spent a full eight hours on it the day that I bought it without even realizing how long it had been so that should give you an indication of how much fun I was having.

You play as an overseer of a landing party on a new planet. You start off deep below the surface with three characters to control and as you play the game you get more characters and each character can earn skill points that helps them to work better and easier. As previously stated, I haven't played this game much but I really love it, except for the fact that the characters are sometimes absolute imbeciles and somehow manage to trap themselves and then they suffocate and die. I am rather unimpressed by that. Otherwise it is rather simple to play and has straightforward tutorial videos to help you get started.

4: Pit People

This game has also been previously reviewed and you can find it under the Games tab on the blog.

It is a rather insane game which creates hilarious dialogue and even stranger scenarios, I have frequently wondered if I was losing my mind while playing it.

Pit people is a turn based action role-playing strategy game and the first cut scene you see is of a giant teddy bear that hovers in space and bleeds green goo all over the world and disrupts your life and those around you just because he is bored.

There are wraiths, life giving cupcakes, princesses, explorers and even cyclops. Pretty simple to play and very fun once you embrace the madness.

5: For The King

For the King is an RPG (Role-Playing Game) that was designed by Colby Young and developed by IronOak Games and Warp Digital Entertainment and it has a 9/10 on Steam as well as a 75% on PC Gamer. This game has been reviewed and is on under the Games tab on my blog.

I really enjoy this game but it is best played with one or two friends and I tend to have less fun without them there. It is possible to play it alone, cycling through the three required characters, but it is much less exciting.

The game itself has a rather strange type of art style that makes it seem almost clunky but I tend to enjoy the stranger types of game art so I like it.

Your party is tasked with keeping chaos away from the realm and you go on a series of quests in order to achieve that while also being ambushed and occasionally robbed by characters in the game.

Easy to play and fun for beginners who want support.

I hope you enjoyed this and if you haven't already, you should try at least one of these games.

Thanks for reading xx
