Spoilers: 9 month old movie.

Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil was produced by Walt Disney Pictures and released in October of 2019. It was directed by Joachim Rønning and it was written by Linda Woolverton, Micah Fitzerman-Blue and Noah Harpster.
The film is a remake of the classic fairy tale: Sleeping Beauty, told from Maleficent's point of view. The first film covered the reason for the curse on Aurora and how she escaped it and the second film covers the way that Aurora and Prince Phillip get together.
I really like the idea that Maleficent being evil was just a misconception or a misunderstanding because it is rather realistic as such things happen quite a lot in our world, why shouldn't they happen in the land of fairy tales as well?

This film starts off with Aurora (Elle Fanning) getting a proposal from Prince Phillip (Harris Dickinson) and then having to break the news to Maleficent (Angelina Jolie) who is less than happy about the idea of her ward leaving the Moors and going to live in the treacherous human world. In the end Maleficent agrees to meet Phillips parents and discuss the wedding plans, however when Phillips mother, Queen Ingris (Michelle Pfeiffer) provokes Maleficent and then frames her for a horrible crime, things become very complicated and Maleficent is wounded as she tries to return to the Moors.

Maleficent is then rescued by another one of her kind, which was a massive plot twist if you ask me, and while she was away Queen Ingris provoked a war between the fairies and the humans while also convincing her own son as well as Aurora that she only wanted peace between the two worlds. She hatches a devious plan to kill all of the fey folk at the wedding and Maleficent is forced to fight alongside her own kind.
I loved this film because it is part of a new age of films where the females are strong and powerful and they don't need anyone to save them. The acting was amazing as it usually is with Angelina Jolie and the costumes and fairy design are straight out of a fairy tale book.
I especially loved the tree folk (they reminded me of Groot)
Definitely worth a watch, especially if you've already seen the first movie.
Thanks for reading xx
