Kiss Me First is a thriller/psychological fiction novel written by Lottie Moggach. It was released in 2013 and it later received a 3.4/5 on Goodreads.

"On the internet, we can be anyone we choose.

No one knows who we really are.

Sheltered and obsessive, Leila spends more time online than out in the real world. So she seems the ideal person to take over the virtual identity of the vivacious and fragile Tess, who wants to disappear. But even with all the facts at her fingertips, there are things that Leila can't possibly know about Tess-or herself-until it is too late..."

That sounded exciting and interesting didn't it?

Well it wasn't.

I will be the first to admit that I prefer a good fantasy novel to a crime or murder mystery but I was willing to try. This book however, did not endear me to the genre at all.

I found the story to drag a bit longer than it had to, I didn't enjoy the intense details that the author added and I didn't find the ending satisfying.

Throughout the novel Leila is trying to gather information on Tess' life and how to accurately impersonate her which was rather interesting but because the story is told in first person view I found it to be missing certain aspects that one would find in a third person view.

I think if the story had of been crafted as more of a musing from Leila then it would have worked better, she is compulsive and obsessive which would be interesting in itself but I didn't like the way it was brought across.

I must say, the novel was very descriptive and it did show you how Leila felt about things sometimes but since she was very detached emotionally I found it to be lacking.

However, please don't take my word for it since I did mention that I don't always enjoy mystery books, feel free to find out for yourself if it deserves its rating.

Thanks for reading xx
