Warning: Very many spoilers ahead. However, considering this is the second time I've seen it, I would have to say that whatever I may tell you, it cannot take away from this incredible story.

Today I watched Hacksaw Ridge for the second time since its release in 2016.
This movie is definitely one of my all time favorite war movies, not because of the gore or the story but because of the faith.
The movie is based on the true events that conspired at Hacksaw Ridge in Okinawa 1945.
It's based around a military medic named Desmond Doss who single handedly saved 75 of the men who were left behind after a retreat. He was the first conscientious objector to receive the Medal of Honor for his bravery displayed at Hacksaw.
During his training he was almost court marshaled because he refused to pick up a rifle, even to train with. When the court was in session he pleaded not guilty and in response to the judge asking why he would contest the fact that he disobeyed direct orders his answer was the following:
With the whole world so set on tearing itself apart, it don't seem like such a bad thing to me to wanna put a little bit of it back together.
After his father, a decorated war hero from the first world war, stepped in he was let go and allowed to start his medic training.

When they went up to Hacksaw the Japanese had built underground bunkers as well as topside bunkers and their numbers were far greater than their own.
When the retreat happened, Doss stayed behind and searched for survivors to lower down the ridge to the other medics. What must be my favorite quote from this movie is during his struggle to lower these wounded soldiers when he is praying and all that he keeps saying over and over again is:
Please Lord, help me get one more.
Now I know that there are a lot of people who don't believe in miracles anymore simply because they are not big or flashy enough but to me this man himself was a miracle that day.
He saved 75 soldiers on his own, in the dark, with bloody hands and limbs weighed down with exhaustion he saved those men and all because he prayed for help. No human being could possibly have done that on their own but he did because of His help.
Desmond Doss taught so many people how to believe, simply by his own unfailing belief.
It just goes to show that your faith can lead others and when you show it, it can inspire miracles.
Thanks for reading xx
