Where to start...

Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween is the sequel to Goosebumps that really did quite a bit better in their ratings than the original film, they are both adaptions of R.L Stine's books of the same name but with the main focus on the ventriloquist doll, Slappy.

Goosebumps 2 got a 5.6/10 on IMDB and a 48% on Rotten Tomatoes, it was released by Sony Pictures under it's Columbia Pictures label and it debuted in October of 2018.

The movie is centered around the Quinn family and the town of Wardenclyffe where they live. Sarah Quinn (Madison Iseman) is struggling to write a college essay while also withstanding the pressure that her mom puts on her to help around the house as well as her boyfriend who distracts her constantly. Sonny Quinn (Jeremy Ray Taylor) is trying his utmost to bring Nikola Tesla's tower to life as his science project in a tribute to his favorite scientist and Sam Carter (Caleel Harris), Sonny's friend, is just visiting for the weekend while his parents are away and has the unfortunate luck to get caught in the middle of this horror story.

Together the three find out that Sonny and Sam have somehow released the evil Slappy (From the first film) into their town and he is determined to wreak havoc once again as well as build his own monster family.

The three children must now use the power of the book to save the town and put Slappy back where he belongs.

With the exception of Jack Black, the sequel doesn't have any of the original cast, this is not necessarily a bad thing but I think that may be one of the reasons that it received mixed reviews. Another reason could be the way that they glamorized the teenagers and children which just made it come across as fake. (Disclaimer: Those are my sisters direct words on the matter.) I personally agree and I would also like to add that there were a few plot holes and unnecessary things. Sarah's boyfriend was in the movie for a total of about five to ten minutes and if he wasn't there the movie probably wouldn't have changed at all.

Overall, I would say that this movie was not completely horrible but that if you really enjoyed the first one then maybe consider watching that again instead of this.

Thanks for reading xx
