Spoilers for those who haven't read the book yet*

City of Lost Souls is the fifth book in the Mortal Instruments series written by Cassandra Clare, it was published in May 2012 and got a 4.3/5 on Goodreads.

This book has 534 pages and I finished it in less than five days.

I cannot express how well Clare writes even if I said it every time I reviewed one of her books. They truly hook you and pull you into their world and I can't say that I hate it, in fact the only thing that I hate is that I can't really visit their world because I would love it.

This book is about how Jace has been kidnapped by Jonathan Morgenstern and is being hidden from every type of tracking ruin that the Clave and Magnus have tried. Clary is frustrated and upset and soon finds a way to help, maybe not herself but definitely Jace.

Clary finds Jace and Jonathan and steals away with them in order to find a way to help Jace escape from under her brothers influence, meanwhile Simon and Isabelle try their level best to find a weapon to help Clary. Maia and Jordan reconcile during a mission to save Luke's life and their love blooms in the midst of chaos while Alec and Magnus' relationship is under strain from every side, especially Camille who has managed to manipulate Alec into thinking that he can turn Magnus mortal so that they will never have to part.

Needless to say, there is a fair amount of drama in this book, however it was amazingly written and it didn't end on a complete plot twist like the previous one did which makes it pretty awesome to me.

I love this series and the more I read it the more I want to visit it, live there and fall in love like every other teenager in it seems to be doing.

I love the way Clary is portrayed in this book, usually we see her as being less than adequate in the Hunting business but in this book she really stepped up to the plate and proved that she can fight just as well as any of the others, she just needed the right type of motivation.

Thanks for reading xx
