City of Fallen Angels is the fourth book in the first Shadow Hunter Series: The Mortal Instruments, written by Cassandra Clare and published between March 2007 and May 2014.
The book also received 4.1/5 on Goodreads and a 4/5 on Common Sense Media.

The book follows Simon as he tries to adjust to being a newly made vampire while also still being best friends with Clary who is training to be a Shadow Hunter while also struggling with her relationship with Jace who has been acting weird since she brought him back to life with the wish that she used from Raziel the Angel after her father stabbed him in order to open the gate between the human world and the demon worlds.

Now somebody is trying to kill Simon and since the Mark of Cain that Clary put on him is protecting him and destroying everyone that dares try to hurt him its becoming frustrating trying to get any answers out of them. A new comer shows up and offers to help Simon find out what is happening, little does Simon know that Jordan is hiding a very big secret.
Meanwhile, Jace is having terrible nightmares about hurting and even killing Clary. The dreams are starting to get to Jace as he cannot sleep or eat and he starts to panic and avoid Clary so that he cannot hurt her. Clary is feeling dejected and confused by Jace's behavior but cannot figure out how to communicate with him.
The best part about this book is the twist at the end which literally sent me into shock for a few hours. I never saw it coming.
This book pulled me in and stole me from reality. I could not put it down and I finished it in two days. I adore Clare's writing and her Shadow Hunter world intrigues me beyond anything, it is also very funny and teaches you a lot of life lessons. I would definitely recommend this to any young adults who love fantasy and I simply cannot wait to finish the first series.
Thanks for reading xx
