Now this, is going to be fun to write.

City of Bones is a novel that was written by Cassandra Clare and published in March of 2007. It has a 4.1/5 on Goodreads and a 4.5/5 on Barnes&Noble. The books were adapted into a movie which came out in 2013 and starred Lilly Collins and Jamie Campbell Bower as the leads. There was also a Netflix series that starred Dominic Sherwood and Katherine McNamara, and was named Shadow Hunters, that ran from 2016 till 2019. Overall, the series got better ratings but true fans apparently enjoy both.

I absolutely adore this book because it is what introduced me to the Shadow Hunter world.

Cassandra Clare is a genius and she writes beautifully. I love her books and I can never put them down. I also continue to agree with hardcore fans and I am truly bitter about the cancellation of the series.

City of Bones is the first book in The Mortal Instrument series which consists of six books in total. The story starts off introducing us to Clary Fray who is almost eighteen and desperately wants to go to art school and have great adventures with her best friend, Simon Lewis.

On the day of her birthday they go to a local club and Clary is bumped by a mysterious stranger who is rather surprised that she can see him since he has a magical glamour that makes him invisible to 'mundane' people (normal). He is the first Shadow Hunter that Clary meets and he introduces her to the amazing and dangerous world that has been hiding in the corner of her eye for years.

As Clary sinks deeper and deeper into the Shadow Hunter world it becomes apparent that she is some how a Shadow Hunter too and that her powers have been hidden from her by someone, this is all put on a back burner though with the looming threat of Valentine who wants to destroy all Down Worlders (Vampires, werewolves, warlocks, faeries etc) with the help of the Mortal Cup which can help him to control demons if he can get his hands on it.

Clary and Jace must now protect and help each other in order to prevent a literal slaughter as well as probably the end of the world. They enlist the help of werewolves and sexy warlocks along the way, not to mention their show down with false friends and vampire lairs. All in all, I think Clary got more than she bargained for.

All the stories are true.

This is probably one of my favorite quotes from a book ever. It is both terrifying and equally exciting. Have you ever wanted to imagine that your favorite fairy tale might be true? Well that is the world that Cassandra Clare creates, a world where every single fairy tale, be it scary or amazing, is true. I love that.

In conclusion, if you haven't read this book yet, you had better find it and cherish it because it will change your life and pull you in until you can quote it on command. Just like me.

Thanks for reading xx
