Warning: Spoilers ahead.

This series is super gruesome and honestly quite disturbing, I loved it though.

Castlevania is an anime that is based on a dark, medieval fantasy video game series and it was released onto Netflix in July 2017 with a rating of 18+. It got a 8.2/10 on IMDB and a whopping 93% on Rotten Tomatoes.

The series starts off in 1455 Wallachia when a young women named Lisa (Emily Swallow) seeks out Vlad Dracula Tepes (Graham McTavish) so that he can teach her the sciences of being a doctor. Later when his wife is murdered by the church in his town while he is away he begins to slip from the kind and helpful Dracula that Lisa knew and he decides that there are no innocent people in the world. The church suspected his wife of being a witch because of her incredible healing skills and they burnt her house to the ground which of course angered Dracula, leading him to go on a killing spree as he summons the hoards of hell along with the most gruesome beasts I have ever seen.

We are then introduced to Trevor Belmont (Richard Armitage) who is the last living relative of the Belmont Clan, a legendary family of monster hunters. His mission is to stop Dracula from murdering hundreds of innocent people and while on his travels he meets Sypha Belnades (Alejandra Reynose) who is one of the few female Speaker Magician's in existence and together they search for the secret weapon that has been whispered about, the weapon that can kill Dracula.

During their search they come upon Alucard (James Callis) who appears to be a vampire but is willing to help them defeat Dracula.

While they are searching for Dracula, he is busy assembling a horrifying army with the help of two forgemasters called Hector (Theo James) and Isaac (Adetokumboh M'Cormack) who can bring deformed monsters back to life and make them attack at will as well as turn normal human corpses into demons from hell that only obey them and the master vampires of each country who are mostly just blood thirsty monsters who turn out to argue about everything from 'food' to strategy.

There are a ton of great characters in this series not to mention familiar voices and incredible animation. I loved the twist on the old Dracula story and I can't wait for fourth season to come out.

Thanks for reading xx
