Where to begin...
A Court of Thorns and Roses is the first book in the series of the same name by Sarah J. Maas which was first published in may of 2015 (Yes, I know that I'm behind!) and got a 4,22/5 on Goodreads.
I honestly first decided to read this book based on the amazing hype and reviews it was getting on Bookstagram, that's Instagram for people who like books...a lot.
I wasn't disappointed at all though because this book kept me up, little did I know that they all would, it kept me turning the pages and craving more of the story.

The book is centered around Feyre Archeron, a human who is struggling to feed her selfish and ungrateful family while they waste away in a hovel that is too close to the border of the Fae lands for comfort.
One day, while out hunting in the middle of winter, she sees an enormous wolf in the woods and knows that it will feed her family for at least a week, a luxury that they don't often have, and she shoots it and drags it back to her home not realizing what she has just set in motion.
Not long after her magnificent kill Feyre's peace is disrupted by a monstrous being known as the High Lord of the Spring Court which borders the Wall on the other side and he informs her that her life is now in his hands as the wolf that she killed was a High Fae sentry of his and his life needs to be paid for with another, hers.
Feyre only agrees to go across the Wall if he promises that her family will be cared for and that he won't murder them, after this she is taken back to the Spring Court where she discovers magic, monsters and mystery darker than any night.
I think the thing that kept me wanting more of this book was Feyre, how stubborn and strong she is even as she is surrounded by beings immense power that could kill her in an instant.
This series will awaken your warrior spirit and make you wish you had the bad sense to think you were strong enough, smart enough, to survive and isn't that just what all of us aspire to be?
Thanks for reading xx
