I'm sure that we all remember the first answer that we ever gave to the question: "What do you want to be when you grow up?"

My first answer was: Taller.

After that it changed to ballerina and then author. Now my answer is teacher.

I will be the first to admit that when I was in school I thought that being a teacher must be a breeze. I mean, who wouldn't want to have four holidays in a year?

Now that I work hand in hand with teachers at a high school I have come realize how much work actually goes into being a teacher.

They are constantly busy, constantly helping students in many different ways and explaining every different subject under the sun.

These teachers bleed for their students.

I wish that the students could see and understand how much their teachers care about them.

I doubt, even I will ever fully understand the love that a teacher can have for their students, before I actually become one.

I haven't changed my mind, if that's what you were wondering.

I still want to be a teacher and my reason is a big one: I want to change the world.

They say, they being the intellectuals, that the youth is the future and I believe that is true, therefore in order to change the world we must look to the future.

We must educate our youth to be intelligent, to be wise, to be kind and to be selfless.

We must show them the mistakes that we as a generation have made and then help to fix them.

I don't ever want to have to tell my children that I could've made a difference but that I didn't.

I don't want them to ask me where the rhinos went.

I don't want them to ask me why some people are abused or even killed because of the color of their skin or who they loved.

It Must Stop.

We have to stand up for the good in this world because as a wise man once said: "When good people stand by while others commit evil and they do nothing, they are no better."

The time is now.

Thanks for reading xx
