The Toes We Line

Yes, I know that's the wrong way round, it's called artistic license.

When you 'toe the line' it usually refers to somebody doing something that they shouldn't.

In the world we now live in, we are constantly toeing the lines of so many different things that it can be difficult for us to navigate it.

There is so much prejudice and hatred in this world that it can often be frightening or confusing to try and learn more about others.

For instance, I am not one hundred percent sure how the he/she or they/them stuff works, I would love to find out and I'm sure I could if I tried but I find it nerve wracking to think of asking someone because what if they think I'm being rude or cruel?

There are so many new ways of doing things in our new world and I think we owe it to ourselves to find out what they are so that in the future there will be less anger and less blind hatred.

I'm not sure if anyone knows all of the details of the semi-colon or the safety pin trope.

I'm going to try and explain what I understand of it though.

As far as I can tell, the semi-colon is for people that struggle with anxiety, with depression, with self harm and with any other type of mental illness. The semi-colon is used as it is in writing, to indicate that the author could of ended the sentence there but chose to continue it, the same is true of your life. Your story is not over yet.

I honestly think that is beautiful in every way and that more people should know about it.

The safety pin has a similar regard where it is used to tell others that the person wearing one is safe.

Safe to talk to and to confide in, with anything, be it a dreadful anxious thought or a secret to do with your sexuality, that person is sworn to secrecy and will help you in any way that they can, it is also used as a symbol of unity. This too, is beautiful.

I would like to call on a quote from one of the books that I read recently:

"Leave the world a better place than when you found it."

We are not islands, we are one solid land mass and we need to stick together.

We all have a duty, to change the world in a better way, to try to be better, to try to understand one another and to look to the world with love instead of hate.

Regardless of who you are, in any way, you deserve understanding if nothing else.

You deserve to be loved and you deserve to be safe.

Thanks for reading xx
