The Cape

I recently traveled to the Cape Province for a week and I cannot express how amazing it was to me.

We drove down and I spent the entire two days singing along to the carefully chosen playlist and taking thousands of photos of the landscape that was rolling past us.
I loved the way that each place changed, the flat grasslands became rocky mountains, the dead grass became vibrant flowers and the frigid winter became a lovely spring breeze.
I think that I annoyed my boyfriend out of his mind with all of my photo taking, questions and obvious observations of: "Look! A Mountain!"
The closer we got to our destination the more child-like I became.

I was charmed by the flowers, impressed by the animals (I saw a squirrel) and in awe of the majestic mountains. I must have pointed out every new thing at least once, the flowers probably three times.
We explored the wineries to which I showed appreciation for the craft but not the wine itself (I am not nearly sophisticated enough to enjoy wine).
We ate good food and drank amazing coffee (Again, my sophistication levels held me back) but what I enjoyed the most was the company.
I have often found that good company is hard to find, company that understands you even more so. I am so grateful to the company that I had, who understood my absolute wonder at everything around me.
The person who understood that I preferred flowers and photos to souvenirs.
I am thankful for the opportunity that I got and to the people who made it possible, I will never forget my first trip to the Cape or the people who made it so special for me, despite the circumstances that made it difficult to have fun.
I don't think that I could possibly convey, to anyone, how much I enjoyed being there and how much it meant to me to see and learn so much.
I cannot wait to go again.
P.S Thank you for being you, M.
Thanks for reading xx
