This is the very first game that I ever learned to play on my own and I am possibly one of the best players of Don't Starve in my friend group.
Don't Starve is an adventure survival game that was developed by the Canadian indie game developer, Klei Entertainment, and was released in 2013. It has a 10/10 on Steam, the popular game distribution service.

It has a kind of old style animation to it that I like as well as a wide range of characters to choose from that each have a different talent which none of the other characters have.
You start off with Wilson, the face of Don't Starve, as your character and as you progress you can unlock new characters and get even further. Wilson's ability is that he can grow a beard (believe it or not you can use hair for some things in this game) The game play is mainly third person view which makes it a bit easier to see where you need to go or where some useful items might be, except if you play as Wagstaff who is near sighted and the screen surrounding him is blurred to express this.
The second character is Willow and she is immune to fire damage and comes with her own lighter, unfortunately she lights fires when she's nervous which can be annoying if she lights fire to your hard earned gadgets.

There are many more characters but I won't name all of them, except my personal favorite so far which is a tie between Wendy and Walani. Wendy is not afraid of the dark and she has a ghost twin sister who can protect her or help kill enemies sometimes. Walani is a surfer chick who dries off quickly and comes with her own surfboard which saves you making a boat every time you want to go to another island in the Shipwrecked DLC.
The logic is pretty cool because you can make your own gadgets if you know what to collect, for instance if you want to make a wall you first need to build a science machine using one piece of gold, four logs and four stones. Then of course you also need the material for the walls, which depends on what type you're making, but you get the idea.
I mostly play the Shipwrecked version, mainly because there isn't snow so I cannot freeze to death which is possible in the original, but I would recommend a new player start with the normal version as it can be quite difficult to make science machines and alchemy machines if you aren't sure how. You can change the world settings but I have found that to be a bit of a problem since some things are still useful even if they do try to kill you first. Shipwrecked can also be challenging as you need to sail from one island to another to find items whereas if you play the original then everything is on one island.

This game is probably one of my favorite because I'm good at it, but it isn't very difficult to get good at. All you need to do is run around with each new character and be curious. You'll soon figure out what can kill you and what can help you.
I have a total of 35 hours on this game so far but I'm sure I will accumulate many more in the future. My sister has also played this game and she agrees that it isn't too difficult as long as you stay away from the snakes.
So anyone who's new to gaming and might want to try, make this one of the top ten first tries.
Thanks for reading xx
